DP3: I’ll power-down, I promise!

Elyse Marr’s PSP:

By time I finish work at night, I am at my exhaustion point. I often don’t save or shut down programs – I hit my limit for the day and immediately roll in bed. 2:00 AM is when I’m done for the night. The next morning, I rush out the door knowing I am late. I get back to dorm around 5:00 pm, where I check my email again. Rarely do I take my computer with me to use it during the day. This means I leave my computer on for over twelve hours, untouched. Also, I try to sit at my computer as little as possible, so truthfully, I probably don’t use it for more than 5 hours a day.

For my personal sustainability project I am going to shut down my computer every night and turn it off in between uses. This way, I hope to cut down on my energy use when the computer is just idly sitting on my desk.
