My personal sustainability project is to cut down on my shower time and limit the amount of shampoo I use. According to the data I have taken thus far, which I feel is fairly representative, I take a shower enthat is 18 minutes long, on average. By the end of the quarter, I plan to cut that down to 10 minutes or less.
Taking long showers is one of my favorite guilty pleasures, but one that I can certainly do without.
Also, since I’ve noticed that I often use more shampoo than I need, I’m going to reduce my shampoo use to a reasonable minimum. This is somewhat difficult given the design of the shampoo bottle that I have, which makes it difficult to control the amount coming out, but this just gives me ideas for how to re-design the spout mechanism on shampoo bottles.
